Reading this made me realize going out for ramen is the **only** time I've ever purposefully eaten at a restaurant solo.

Sure, getting a little older means also getting a little braver and shedding the ridiculous going-out-solo faux pas. But I think you're really onto something about its meditativeness. Didn't even have the words!

I used to feel very conscious about it when I was younger, but now I don't mind dining solo at all (although not in fancy places - feels weird).

I like Ramen shops that make each seat a mini cubicle, forcing you to eat solo even if you come with someone.

I also love ramen and this is the first time ever I read about its history!

I, too, learnt about the history only as I wrote this one. 😀

Top Ramen Curry noodles really does, as you say, slap.

What a fun piece!

Thanks! I was disproportionately proud of that line - thanks for catching that. 😂

I have this theory. Ramen must be eaten with chopsticks because it's always so hot that being slow works to my advantage so I don't burn my mouth. But noodles? Oh you should see me fork noodles and twist them like spaghetti. I can use chopsticks. I choose not to for efficiency reasons ;)

Ha ha....Given I am not proficient, chopsticks add a whole new level of mindfulness to the meal, which I love. Recently graduated from noodles to using them for a meal with sticky rice and so feel very good about myself 😅
